6th Grade
This assignment is my newspaper article, written in my 6th grade Social Studies class. I thought this would be a great item for my portfolio, because it shows what a how versatile of a student I am. This project was not in my comfort zone, being that writing news articles is not something I am used to doing. This project was also slightly challenging, do to the fact that we had to basically summarize the entire chapter that we had read into one, concise newspaper article. Although I knew it was going to be quite difficult, I pushed on, carried through, and came up with quite a nice result. It really reflects how hard-working I am, and how I am able to adapt to situations that I might not be comfortable with at first. It also shows that I am able to grasp key Social Studies concepts well enough for me to be able to grab the important information and gather it together in a logical way. This proves that I am a very dynamic student.

This assignment is my Claim-Evidence-Reasoning Essay about Egypt's Order and Greatness, written in my 7th Grade Ancient History Class. I thought this assignment was a great reflection of me as a learner because it shows my ability to use the Claim-Evidence-Reasoning (C-E-R) strategy in order to write a well planned and well thought out essay. In the paper to the left, the red text represents the claim, the blue test represents the evidence, and the green text represents the reasoning. It shows the logical thinking pattern it took to construct this paper, showing that I am a great writer, and that I can apply these skills to my work. This assignment also showcases my comprehension skills in that I am able to find relevant evidence for the topic, and present it in a logical way.

This is my "Spies of the American Revolution" Card, which was a co-corricular project between my 8th Grade U.S. History Class and Advanced English Class. This is a great representation of me as a learner, and shows that I am able to take concepts from different classes, and combine them into one, great project. This project shows how I can combine information that I learn in History class and apply concepts from my English class to that in one single project, proving that I am a dynamic learner. This project also illustrates how creative and neat I am when it comes to projects. As you can see, I tried my best to immitate what would seem to be old-looking paper, due to this project being about the Revolutionary War. My project is also very neat and presentable, showing that I care about my work, and put quality time into it.
This Prezi is our Greenfield Village Project, completed for my 8th Grade United States History Class. This item is great for my portfolio because it illusrates how well I can work well with others. I completed this project with nine other peers in my class, so I was working with quite a large group. This project required a lot of planning, and we had a lot of requirements we had to meet for this project. Along with that, this project was based on a field trip, so all of our information had to be gathered while we were there, and we only had a limited time at Greenfield Village. Meticulous planning had to be made as to who was responsible for gathering information about each station, what order we were to visit the stations, the most efficient route we were to take around the village, and all of this was coordinated by me. This shows that I am a strong leader that is able to delegate responsibilities throughout my group and work well with others to get the job done.
